The first aspect of this project was simply to practice speed-painting and try out some new brushes. Each drawing was done in half an hour or less, referenced from a photo.
The second aspect is an attempt to experience my hometown from another angle. Coming up with an arbitrary set of rules is one way to do that. I decided to map the districts of my town (I couldn't find such a map online, only written description, so it might not be 100% accurate) and walk the borders of each one, taking photos. I've only walked a few so far and it has already led me through some streets and forest trails I did not know before. After I finish circling a district, I make a series of speed-paints from some of the photos I took and I assemble the best ones into a 9-picture collection.
Completing the project is not of great importance to me - I'll keep it up for as long as it makes sense, and we'll see how far I'll get.
